'Unstoppable,' a collaboration between JO1's Takumi Kawanishi and MONKEY MAJIK, will be released digitally on June 17. The pairing bridges generations: MONKEY MAJIK are marking the 20th anniversary of their major debut, while Kawanishi is a member of the global boy group JO1.
Kawanishi grew up listening to MONKEY MAJIK from elementary school and has spoken in various media about his hopes of working with the band he admires. For this production he traveled to Sendai to record, and 'Unstoppable' carries a message about living authentically and bringing happiness to the people around you. Kawanishi also releases his six-track solo EP 'Sketch' on June 24; on the advance single 'Kyo mo Manten de Manten Janai' he handled both lyrics and composition.
Cross-generational collaborations that step outside agency and label boundaries are on the rise as a device for moving fandoms in both directions.
