Music Industry Funding Reaches About $4.66 Billion in Q1 2026 — Catalog Mega-Funds and AI Investment Lead as Deal Count Tops Last Year

Fundraising across the music industry's core segments reached approximately $4.66 billion (about 730 billion yen) in the first quarter of 2026, excluding adjacent industries, according to tallies reported by Digital Music News. Core deal count came to 18 for the quarter, ahead of the 12 recorded in the same period last year.

Large catalog plays dominate the breakdown. A catalog fund involving Sony Music Group and Singapore's sovereign wealth fund GIC, reported at roughly $2 billion, leads the list, followed by Domain Capital Group's second entertainment fund at $768 million. On the technology side, voice AI company ElevenLabs raised a $500 million Series D, while Create Music Group secured $450 million in equity and debt.

The industry context: song catalog investment, which accelerated in the low-interest-rate era, has retained its standing as a stable cash flow asset class. At the same time, large rounds for AI voice and AI music startups are settling in as a new pillar of capital flows.
