SUMMER SONIC 2026 Completes Its 25th-Anniversary Lineup and Timetable

SUMMER SONIC 2026, marking the festival's 25th anniversary, has now published stage timetables and the complete artist lineup for three days across venues in Tokyo and Osaka. THE STROKES, Ado and L'Arc-en-Ciel take the headline slots, arriving at the end of a rollout that filled the bill in stages through a twelfth announcement in early July.

The most recent wave confirmed the Osaka headline slot and added several more names to the bill. An earlier eleventh wave in May brought in STUTS, Paledusk, SKRYU and Murasaki Ima, and the wave before that added Denki Groove, Travis Japan and WANIMA, building a bill that moves across both international and domestic acts and across genres.

Splitting announcements across more than a dozen waves has become an established way to raise total announcement volume while creating several peaks in ticket demand rather than one. It keeps social conversation alive for longer than a single large reveal would, and it leaves room to correct genre balance in the later slots.

On the artist side, the timetable release is what triggers planning for merchandise, releases and content. Once set length and stage size are fixed, setlists and audience routing can be worked backwards, so the question becomes whether a festival booking gets treated as a one-off appearance or as a preparation window connected to the release plan on either side of it.

Also worth a look: recent work from a headliner

Ado, one of the three headliners, has continued releasing work through 2026, including a video shot in live action and newly recorded tracks. For anyone encountering the songs for the first time at the festival, both the audio and the visuals are in place as entry points.

ZEN editorial view. What a festival slot returns depends less on the set itself than on whether a release just before and a recap just after can be planned as one package. Treating the timetable publication date as the internal production deadline is an effective habit.
